The preliminary task was to produce a short film of your choice and edit it using premier pro, and export it to a private account on youtube. The short film had to consist of 12 camera shots and some camera angles to contrast with them. Before we even started to film we wrote various ideas down that we could do as a group and decide which idea, we wanted to go through with which was GCSE results day at the school. As we had all the equipment we needed and the setting was our school. We then established the story line and the characters involved, and what their roles were. We also wrote a time frame for when we were going to film for our production, and established what was going to happen in each scene. Once we had done that Harvey and myself went around the school to establish where we were going to film our shots, and once we had decided we went and made props. After we had done that we found people to play our characters who were and and we got ready to do the filming.
The filming process itself was painful as the actors repeatedly messed up their lines, and we had to make sure we had every shot that we said we were going to use. However we did manage to get some really good shots, but due to the fact that we didn't have a tripod; the filming itself looked a little shaky as the filming was done free hand. And just to make matter worse the zoom button was really hard to use so the camera man Harvey found it hard to do the zoom in and out I'm our first shot. So the first shot looked a little unprofessional. Also as the camera wasn't the best quality you couldn't hear the actors if they were stood to far away, so the actors had to speak much louder than they needed to. But apart from that begot the shots that were needed and we got all the shots done in a one day, even though we set to do the shots over 3 days.
The editing stage at first was tricky as I had never used premier pro before so it took a while to get used to. Also we didn't have all the footage that we needed meaning that we had to get the camera and download the shots that we were missing. Once I had done that and got used to the editing site I started to download the shots into the program, which didn't take as long as I expected it to. Then I started to put the shots in order of which they were shot from shot 1 to 12. Then through each shot I cropped out the bits that i didn't need to use, put them in the sequence and, played it back repeatedly to make sure it made sense and to see what else I needed to do. Then when it was finished I exported it on to a youtube account that I created.
Personally I think that it meets the brief well as we used 12 different shots and camera angles. The parts of the short film that were strong we the shots we got when the characters were discussing there results to each other, and the argument they have. As they shots clearly saw who was talking and when, the expressions on their faces and there is a clear conversation happening. Weaknesses occurred when in one shot one of the characters was walking on the left hand side of me, then in the next shot he somehow was on the right hand side when he came through the door. Also the other weakness was our panning shot as the zoom in and out didn't look good, and the panning itself was poor as it was done free hand. The developments I will use in the main task is to use a tripod, and are sure each scene has the same contrast and nothing looks different.
