Research: the importance of titles

Opening titles are a creative way to set the scene of a movie. They are used to inform the audience of what is to come within the movie, who are in the movie, who made the movie and much more. They also will have some sort of music played over the top of the titles to set the mood for the movie.

This is the opening titles for Tim Miller's Dead Pool which was released in 2016. In this title sequence it shows that Twentieth Century Fox presents this movie, its in association with marvel entertainment, it also uses comedy in the information of who did the movie and who is in it, and it shows the title at the end. Unlike normal opening titles this uses comedic values instead of generally telling the audience who is in it, giving the movie a bit of mystery to who's going to be in it and what's going to happen. It also is playing over a bit of the action from the first scene.
